Exclusive- Midwest Games welcomes former Bungie exec to spearhead ‘shadow publishing’ initiative
Bungie's former vice president of production, Elizabeth Howard, has joined U.S. publisher Midwest Games as the company prepares to deploy a new "shadow publishing" model.
Howard has been named chief advisor of services at Midwest and will work to deliver "tailored publishing solutions that empower game developers and bring incredible experiences to players."
Prior to joining Midwest, Howard led Bungie development and publishing production teams on Destiny 2: The Final Shape. She also held key roles at 2K and Aspyr, serving as vice president of publishing operations and VP of publishing, respectively.

Obituary- Jeremías Babini, Storyteller co-designer, has passed away
Developer Jeremías Babini passed away "unexpectedly" over the weekend, according to collaborator Daniel Benmergui.
The Argentinian developer worked with Benmergui on 2023's Storyteller as an artist and co-designer. They first teamed with musician Hernán Rozenwasser on 2017's Fidel Dungeon Rescue.

Nintendo's shares have soared ahead of the official reveal of its long-rumored console-handheld hybrid, the NX.

Sony shutting down PlayStation Mobile

This means that PSM games will no longer be distributed on PlayStation storefronts starting July 15 this year. The PSM DevPortal will shutter on November 30.

Oculus CTO John Carmack opened his mobile VR lecture today with a joke about his legacy of performing off-the-cuff presentations during his time at id Software. Report- Nintendo to launch updated Switch console in 2019
Nintendo will release a new version of the Switch next year to ensure its handheld-home console hybrid remains competitive.
According to the Wall Street Journal, which claims to have spoken with "suppliers and others with direct knowledge of the plan," the Japanese outfit wants to ensure the Switch maintains its impressive sales trajectory.
The console has sold almost 20 million units in roughly 18 months on shelves, meaning it's already managed to surpass the Wii U's lifetime sales total of 13.6 million units by some margin.

Smash Bros. for 3DS crosses 1 million copies in U.S.
After a strong start, Super Smash Bros. for 3DS has sold 1.2 million copies in the U.S. across both digital and retail channels since its release a little over a month ago, according to Nintendo. The game was released on October 3 in North America, and in the U.S. alone, it's crossed the million-seller mark. 20 percent of those copies were sold digitally, which works out to 240,000 copies downloaded from Nintendo's eShop. The game had globally sold 3.22 million copies as of October 30, according to Nintendo's latest quarterly report. Sony confirms PlayStation 5 release window, teases new gamepad tech
On Tuesday Sony confirmed its next-generation console will be called the PlayStation 5, and will be launching in time for holiday 2020.
The company first teased the device in an interview between Wired and chief system architect Mark Cerny back in April, revealing the unit will support 8K graphics, 3D audio, a super fast SSD, and backwards compatibility with PS4 titles.
